Our Fantastic Shows For 2008

The Three Little Pigs
by Domi Gast

A stunning retelling of this favourite fairy tale by the European playwright Domi Gast. Bullying is wrong but everyone is a bully at some point in their lives, a lot of the time without even realising it. This play, given a striking rendition by Bruvvers acclaimed team of renowned actors, reinforces positive behaviour; rather than being just a tract on anti-bullying!

MUSIC MAGIC AND EXCITEMENT

This play is suitable for the very young 3-7 year olds in nurseries, playgroups and infant schools, and to children and their families in local Community Centres

THE GOALKEEPERS REVENGE & THE TROUBLE WITH ABRACADABRA

In the early seventies Macmillan published its famous “Club 75” books for children! Two of them, THE GOALKEEPERS REVENGE by Bill Naughton, and THE TROUBLE WITH ABRACADABRA by Alan Plater will be presented as a double bill! These wonderful stories are as relevant to young people today, as they were when they were first written!

Suitable for Key Stage 2 children in schools, and as a family entertainment in lots of different types of venues!

Loosely adapted from the originals by Michael Mould with added music from Bruvvers.

GIVE US A KISS
by Cecil Taylor

This short comic gem is an old faithful for us. It concerns a couple who are unable to talk to each other, unless it is through the intermediary of their pet budgy. Hugely touching, this moving piece uses Cecil’s technique of the narrator talking to the audience; in this case the budgy!

GIVE US A KISS is suitable for ELDERS in Care Homes, day centres and in sheltered accommodation, and it is also suitable for families in Community Centres etc.

WOT’CHA

A show that will be a combination of GIVE US A KISS with other performers, musicians, magicians and storytellers to present a longer entertainment. Harking back to older ideas of variety! A little bit of what you fancy does you good!

WOT’CHA is suitable for a variety of smaller venues from schools to private parties.

THE PIED PIPER OF HAMLYN Will be our panto!

Offering our usual mixture of rumbustious action, fun, magic and music, for all the family! Bruvvers have created their own traditions with nigh on forty years of these fast paced pantos.

Can be done anywhere and anytime during December 2008 and January 2009

PROJECTS IN DEVELOPMENT

WAVES

Waves is a play that will be researched over a longer period of time! Combining stories and music from asylum seekers, refugees and immigrants it will be transformed into an epic by a writer!

Its concerns will be time and place, the making of economic travellers wishing to better themselves, the escapers from oppression and the oppression of new environments and new cultures. Low pay and its results on communities!

WAVES will try to express the hopes and desires of all who try to better themselves. The waves who moved from the land to the cities. The waves who moved from continent to continent The waves who will move from star system to star system in the future.

SCIENCE FICTION SCIENCE FACT

Our play will be an experiment that will be a science based show for young people. Using theatre to explain certain facts that we take for granted. Using all our skills of story telling, music and magic to make the uncommon believable and the common magical.

Flights of imagination will be encouraged, by putting creativity at the forefront of this project.

Cultural subsidy

We are seeking more funding for these projects; we do not have any slack in our finances. We live hand to mouth we do not have the resources to engage in long term development. Extra long term commitment need more money!

We would like to be able to pay for writers, we would like to be able to work with groups and we would also like to be able to play these shows in our theatre “The Round”.

So that the groups we have worked with will be able to share their experiences with like minded groups, their families and their communities.

Our priority is to still continue to tour our shows to our usual range of schools, community centres and other venues, where the audience will seldom, or, never get the chance to go to the theatre.

But also to get them, our audiences, to come to our uninhibiting, unthreatening yet still exciting theatre.
